Keep Your Preparedness Plans to Yourself
More Articles Related to Survivalist BlogI know a guy who is definitely ready for the end of the world as we know it. His concrete bunker is well designed to withstand a variety of threats to himself and family. It’s stocked with enough food, water, ammo and other survival supplies to outfit his family for many months if not years.
But his preparations go beyond survival gear, shelter, and large purchases of food. Well read and well versed in survivalism and SHTF theory, this guy spends a great deal of time in real world practice; be it at the range or in the field honing survival skills in preparation for the real thing.
His survival preparations are flawless. In sum total he has the knowledge, experience, gear, and preparation necessary to survive come what may. Sounds like a survivalist of the highest caliber doing everything right. Right?
Wrong.
Because I know of his survival preparations; and so does the whole neighborhood and half the people he comes in contact with. I’ve been invited into his survival bunker, handled his arms, discussed his preparedness gear and foods, and even made friends with his dog. As have many others.
This one small detail, this inability to keep a low profile, is the weak link that will likely put him at greater SHTF risk than even his highly unprepared neighbors. Even his credit card purchases of bulk survival food and ammo expose his preparations to government agencies.
Post SHTF there will be dozens if not hundreds of people who know the location of survival supplies aplenty. When times get really tough they will be looking to obtain sundry survival supplies anywhere they can get them. They will do their shopping at the first class survival supply depot; his home.
One man, his wife and kids against a despotic government and desperate hordes.
Like the survival garden I wrote about previously, when the SHTF the fact that everyone knows of his survival preparations is tantamount to a big red target on his back. You can imagine the likely outcome.
