The recent apprehension of Oleg Khintsagov, a Russian who was attempting to sell 100 grams of weapons grade uranium 235 for one million dollars, brings to the forefront once again how close the world could be to disaster and the importance of survival preparation.
This is not the first time someone in the former Soviet Union has attempted to sell radioactive materials that can be used to make a nuclear bomb. Other documented cases exist. The Russians say its nuclear facilities are well guarded but we know this is not the case and there have been may investigations that show otherwise. It is apparent that a determined effort can indeed obtain enough weapons grade uranium to make nuclear bombs.
It is just a matter of time before a terrorist group, a rogue nation, or a superpower unleashes the ultimate bomb upon a target of its choosing. But there is hope even after the event.

As students of survival we have to consider the very real possibility that a nuclear accident, nuclear attack, or other major disasters will occur. Many of us think that should a nuclear war take place there is no chance for survival and the entire earth will be destroyed. However evidence exists to the contrary.
Should even a major nuclear exchange take place, many people will survive and the earth can heal itself over time so that it's residents can have a high standard of living once again. The initial blast of a nuclear detonation will certainly kill or seriously injure those people unlucky enough to be within a certain distance of ground zero. However the major loss of life will occur to those who are downwind of the blast and are unprotected from the fallout. After a time the fallout will become less harmful and those in the area will be able to emerge and begin the process of cleaning up.
The fact is, as bad as a nuclear explosion is life will go on. Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan were both subjected to a nuclear explosion and yet today are thriving cities with millions of residents. Nuclear war is survivable. You owe it to yourself and your family to be knowledgeable and be prepared by knowing how to survive a nuclear attack.
