Proposed Bushcraft Book Collaboration
More Articles Related to BooksWould you like to be a contributing author to a new book on survival and Bushcraft? A member of the Bushcraft UK community has made a proposal inviting fellow bushcrafters to share their extensive knowledge and experience in crafting what could be one of the best survival and bushcraft books on the market.
From gathering nuts to hunting to making gadgets for survival, it is hoped that the proposed book would be a compendium of the know-how of the best bushcrafters in the world. Authors of the various articles would agree to split any profits among themselves.
A member pointed out that a bushcraft book that covers everything would be far too large to be practical unless it spanned a number of volumes. This might be the way to go, like the FireFox books that were and are still popular. In that way as new articles are written they can be compiled to create more books with more bushcraft information.
A few members of the bushcraft community seem to be thinking old school. They would want to limit participating authors of a new bushcrafting book to a handful in order to maximize profits for each individual (i.e., themselves). In my humble opinion this kind of thinking goes against what New Media and the Internet is all about, and this is why big media is dying. The internet is all about collaboration, interlinking, and the sharing of ideas between hundreds and even thousands of individuals. When this is done properly you get far more than that which a handful of individuals can do.
Sure, 5 or 6 experts in bushcraft may have a large amount of knowledge. But they won't have more knowledge and experience than 5 or 6 hundred other bushcrafters combined.
In any case I would certainly purchase a book on bushcraft from these guys and very much hope this idea comes to fruition!

I am hoping that everything goes well and the book that you are talking about from various authors and their experiences comes true. I for one would be at the top of the list for orderng a copy of it for myself.
