Clear plastic PET bottles, or PETE bottles, can be used for Solar Water Disinfection because they do not have additives that block UV-A rays from the sun.
Plastic carbonated softdrink bottles are almost always PET. PET bottles have a resin identification code of 1, The resin identification code is located on the bottom of the bottle.
Plastic PET bottles are made from polyethylene Terephthalate.
