There are some people I know who couldn't survive three weeks without Internet access.

I have used the rule of 3 for years. To go farther with the rule of 3 I cary 3 ways to light a fire, 3 ways to purify water, 3 flash lights, 3 knives, 3 kits: 1st aid, gun care, and knife care, 3 layers of clothing, and so on. It is important to take advanage of technology and carry the gear with you. You either have it or you don't have it with you.
